1. Manufacturer parts warranty (comes with equipment)

What voids your warranty (the fine print they hide)

Using non-OEM parts — even if cheaper
Operating outside design conditions — running AC below 60°F outdoor temp, etc.
Improper install — no Manual J, oversized equipment, bad refrigerant charge
Not registering within the window — automatic warranty downgrade

Warranty registration — do this immediately after install

A reputable installer registers your warranty for you. Confirm in writing. If they refuse, register yourself within 60 days at the manufacturer's site (Carrier, Trane, Mitsubishi, Daikin, etc.).

Budget builds: Take the standard manufacturer warranty + installer labor warranty. Skip extended.
